VINEYARD
The vineyard is a dream come true for the owners, but for one of them, winemaking is a family tradition. Growing up on a vineyard in Germany, watching his grandfather tend to the vines year after year, cultivated a deep love for viticulture and was ultimately the inspiration for this unique project.
Los Dos Caballeros
With the help of a local winemaker and after a careful analysis of the soil and the climatic conditions, the project was born.
The owners decided to plant four grape varieties; sauvignon blanc, merlot, grenache and the mallorquin variety manto negro, which allow them to produce white, red and a rosé wines.
Wine & Grapes
The white wine is a sauvignon blanc, which is dry yet fruity. This varietal is planted in front of the pool and main house and therefore is the portion of the vineyard directly visible from the accomodations.
The red grapes are grenache (garnacha), a very old and heat resistant grape varietal from Spain, which we mainly use to produce a Provence style rosé. These vines are grown in the more rocky and sandy parts of our vineyard. The second red grape is merlot, which will add body and color to our main red wine, a grenache and merlot blend. Our latest addition is a small field of Manto Negro, a local mallorcan grape, which we are going to use to produce a light and fresh red wine once the grapes are ready to be used.
The merlot grapes are located in the fields at the entrance to the winery, while the grapes for the rosé are planted on the fields to the left and right of the sauvignon blanc in front of the main house. The Manto Negro is planted right in front of the new bodega.
Sustainability
At Los Dos Caballeros winery, we care for the environment and try to be sustainable wherever possible. We have installed a state of the art solar energy system which delivers power to the whole finca and the bodega. We remain almost completely self-sufficient by using renewable energy. We implement eco-friendly farming practices and never use harmful chemicals or pesticides. We take sustainablity all the way to our at “km 0” produced wines, using bottles made of recycled glass and lables printed on recyled paper.
The Online Shop
All our wines are available for sale in our Online Shop. We deliver free of charge on Mallorca (orders of 2 boxes minimum). However, our wine is also available for direct sale and pick up in our Bodega and also in selected restaurants on Mallorca, Barcelona and Frankfurt/Main (Germany).
